Welcome to She Who Thirsts, the home of Slaanesh, your one-stop shop for all things Emperor’s Children in Warhammer 40k.
The aim is to provide a centralised, curated resource staying on top of news, rumours, tactics, lore and hobbying as well as provide a hub for the Emperor’s Children community.
The community forums give a chance for more static long form discussions that often drop off today’s faster cycle of social media. There’s also the chance to share project logs and hobby tips with other followers of the Prince of Pleasure.
Why does She Who Thirsts exist?
Simply put, to create the website I have always wished existed for Emperor’s Children. The impending launch of the new Codex, after more than 20 years of anticipation, seems like the appropriate time for us to have a home.
There are some fantastic resources out there that have already touched on Emperor’s Children over the years, particularly Warphammer and Goonhammer in recent times, and there are strong existing communities on both Reddit and discord.
You might be asking why anything more is needed, and you’d be right to! In the case of the former these are less focused and thus lighter on Emperor’s Children specific content, despite what is there being generally fantastic. The latter suffer from a lack of in-depth long-form written content and the ephemeral and bite-sized nature of social media.
I felt there was, and is, a need not being met. At the most basic level this may just be curating all the various sources together to provide a central resource. I expect there is also the demand for in-depth and (hopefully) quality articles and discussion though. There certainly is in my case, or this site wouldn’t exist! The site aspires to supplement, not replicate, other existing communities and content.
In future there may be forays into the wider sphere of Slaanesh, namely the other 40k Chaos factions, The Horus Heresy, Age of Sigmar, The Old World or the various other Games workshop offerings, but for now the focus is mostly on Emperor’s Children in 40k.
About me
I’ve been kicking around the hobby since 1995, and in thrall to Slaanesh running some flavour of Emperor’s Children, or a multi-coloured approximation, pretty much from day one after the iconic Codex: Chaos hit Warhammer 40k 2nd Edition.
Alongside Warhammer 40k I’ve dabbled in WHFB back in the mists of time, and a swathe of specialist games and other game systems on the side, Blood Bowl being my second love. Always Chaos, and always in purple.
TheWarp, Portent, Warseer and the old Emperor’s Children forums have been prior haunts (all sadly lost to time) with Coolmini, B&C and Dakka hanging on, so you could say I’m aiming to fill that void with a home for the legion.
Born in Ireland and, several intervening continents later, have settled here sunny Australia. Encroaching middle age and a gaggle of kids to chase after seems like the perfect time to ramp things up in the hobby once again!
When not rolling dice or squinting with a brush I’ll generally be corralling said kids, rowing, chatting over a beer or plugging away at my own flavour of the corporate grind.
