Article Discussion | When will the new Emperor’s Children 10th Edition Codex be released?

I really want it for december/january, but being cautious I'll just say it will come by the end of the edition, as the last codex.

Rant time now: if the hidden codex is really Agents of the Imperium... Does Imperium really need more shit? Like, 90 of the content is theirs anyway. I get they drive sales but, come on! Throw a bone to xenos and chaos from time to time. Thousand sons, Votann, WE, us EC, Ynnari... We are starved and it doesn't feel good...

Same here, I'm veering towards the hopeful side still, but won;t know for sure until the next codex release schedule drops which should take it through to Spring/Summer 2025. Need a big fat redacted for Winter 2024.

Beyond just imperium, too many factions for a 3 year cycle now it feels like. Did we really need knights? (they should be off in some Battletech style mech game like they had with ships in WHFB). Feels a completely different game to be playing them and skewing the Meta.

Same goes for Custodes. Like the Emperor they should never hit the table.

I'm not put out by the Primarchs like some, do like the story moving forward vs having a static lore 'setting'. there was something quietly dark about them dying of old ages never to be seen again as the Imperium crumbles as 2nd Ed has it.

Space Marines though, know GW has to go after where the money is but it then gets self reinforcing. We'd probably see a lot more Eldar (not that they're uncommon) if they didn't have the same range for decades.

With the World Eater index coming around May 2022 and their codex released in February 2023, should the cycle be similar that's an approximate 9 month wait.

Agreed on Knights and Custodes. People are now crying outloud because the new Custodes codex isn't ultra super powerful, and the faction is gonna suffer on the table. Such a thing would have never happened if the golden demigods had stayed as a lore thing instead of becoming a playable faction. Otherwise it's so difficult to balance, specially if you want to regard lore. But we are in the era of returning primarchs and power creep, so I guess that ship already sailed.

Maybe the Custodes should have remained a HH set, I don't mind so much long as I get cool minis, since I don't actually play the games.

Yeah, that I could have gotten behind, or 58mm scale one off pieces just for collectors, I'd love a single pieces at at faction leader level of detail to paint for display. Not something GW do though, and if they did there would be a groundswell for rules anyway.

Bit moot, everyone is going to have their own personal taste, there are a lot more people just who want awesome stuff to paint and those who play but don't care about backstory all that much than the subset who have their own (massively diverse) opinions on lore etc.

Given how GW have been doing lately they seem to have gotten it right in a business sense!
