Dang, those descriptions are vague indeed! But seems that the box is gonna be loaded. Now I wonder if it will insta-sell... Can´t wait to see the price and the models to decide wether it will be worth it or better to wait for individual boxes.EC boxset rumours:
Multipart Lord
20 EC Legionaries
12 Noise Marines {likely 2 squads of 6}
Limited codex
HQ is described as a "regular multipart- slaaneshi lord". I speculate probably a power armoured foot lord with some weapons options with the possibility of being a duel kit.
Marines are described as very characterful, with plumes and old flare. "Iconic from back in the day" doesn't narrow down which aesthetic they'll go for since all of them are old enough to fit that description. No word on sonic dreads.
The good thing is that, given how fast and low EC fell during the Heresy, it would still be possible to use the new "slaaneshified" marines for 30K, I think.I'm stoked - but I wish I liked 40K better. My main GW games are Heresy and especially AOS. This will undoubtable bring me back into at least trying it again.
Glad the Noise Marines are a separate kit, rather than just a weapon option for the EC chaos marines. If true, it's quite a nice surprise.
With Death Korps of Krieg box rumored to have a Death Riders HQ, this is going to be a jumping Spring for the game system. A needed shot in the arm.
The Marines are just Emperors Children Marines, I called them Legionaries because the majority are still from that era. Basically their [sic] Emperors Children Chaos Marines, whips, boltguns, plasma guns etc.
Some biker would be sweet! Regarding the steeds option... well, I´m on the contrary side, i loved them! Sure, the contrast between graceful, serpentise mount and bulky marine rider can be a lot, but that´s the kind of glorious nonsense I love from Chaos! So, should we get bikers, I wouldn´t mind converting some into Slaanesh seekers. For this initial release, it doesn't seem like there will be anything added in a traditional "Fast Attack" role.
(If the rumours of Codex: Chaos Daemons being folded into the Cult Legions is true, and we don't have to pay a Daemonette tax to include stuff, then that opens up Seekers, Fiends, and chariots for us.)

Lucius: The Faultless Blade features a really cool Raptor Cult. I think that Raptors (and Warptalons) also conceptually fit well with the Legion, as their lore involves having become obsessive hunters with additional vox-casters mutated into their armour to amplify their howling screams. On the other hand, classically Raptors worshipped their own unknown god, and couldn't be taken by any of the Cult Legions.
Bikers have long associations with the punk/rocker/metal genres, as well as with thrill-seeking sensory junkies. And, well, the original Slaanesh character - Doomrider - was mounted upon his chromium steed. The 2002 Codex had Noise Marine Bikers. I think they'd be the obvious shout, and I hope we have Bikers in the codex (even if we don't have unique models for them).
Jetbikers are noted in Horus Heresy lore to have been used prominently by the Third, so that would be a possibility. Personally, I don't want the Emperor's Children to overlap too much with the Dark Eldar though, and jetbikes are something I heavily associate with them. So a loreful possibility, but not one I'd favour.
Having mentioned daemons, Marines on Steeds of Slaanesh were a thing going back to 1988. Only problem is... IMO, they look really goofy. Space Marine armour is just too big and bulky to look good on the lithe, dainty Steeds. But 6th edition WHFB had the Slaanesh Daemonic Mount (aka Serpent of Slaanesh, aka "the boobsnake") which has a bit more heft to it, so I think a unit/character of serpent riders would be cool
Personally, if I could add one thing to the model range, it would be a mini version of a Subjugator Scout Titan (like possessed Vorax Battle-Automata). Leggy little daemon-engines that can run around and pinch/scream at things.
THAT would be very nice. Some biker would be sweet! Regarding the steeds option... well, I´m on the contrary side, i loved them! I really hate the idea of EC just getting Legionnaries as their troop choice, when the rest of the mono god boys all have unique troops, in Plague Marines, Rubrics and Berserkers.Personally, I've got my fingers crossed that they're still Noise Marines, and what he's calling Noise Marines are actually new "Noise Marine Whatevers".
Agreed, I love a bit of daftness to my Warhammer. Some biker would be sweet! Regarding the steeds option... well, I´m on the contrary side, i loved them! At least from the heads preview we can be confident that they'll look like classic Noise Marines, even if the name might migrate to the heavier unit.I really hate the idea of EC just getting Legionnaries as their troop choice, when the rest of the mono god boys all have unique troops, in Plague Marines, Rubrics and Berserkers.
Yup, that's something. At least from the heads preview we can be confident that they'll look like classic Noise Marines, even if the name might migrate to the heavier unit.
