Valraks heard rumor of Fulgrim, Lucius, noise marines, cataphractii terminators he theorised could be a 40k phoenix guard equivalent and cultists. He's not heard anything about Eidolon.

He heard rumor of more HQs, he theorised they could possibly be new characters. EC should be out by the end of 2025.

The Phoenix Guard in Cataphractii would fit the pattern of the Thousand Sons and Death Guard having their 40k bodyguard units in an alternative terminator armour.

I don't think that was a purposeful choice (or at least not in that way). To me it seems more natural for that to have been a design decision to keep the look of the factions unified. Plague Marines are known for MkIII power armour, therefore "Plague Marine Terminators" make the most sense in Cataphractii (which shares much of the MkIII aesthetic). Likewise, Rubric Marines are in MkIV, therefore their Terminators get Tartaros pattern armour.

Now the Noise Marines are probably going to be in (heavily modified, corrupted) MkVI. And in the Horus Heresy rulebook, it says (according to Lexicanum's page on TDA) "Saturnine pattern was made available after the MKVI Power Armour, during the latter stages of the Horus Heresy." Valrak has also said that he's heard Horus Heresy rumours of a box set containing (among other things) Saturnine pattern Terminators.

(And to be clear, while a lot of fans associate the term "Saturnine" with the old-hammer "eggman" TDA, that's not actually an official thing. We don't know what Saturnine TDA looks like, only that it exists.)

So my crazy conspiracy theory is that we'll see Saturnine Terminators come out for 30k, and then Noise Marine Terminators wearing corrupted versions of it in 40k. (This would necessitate Valrak's source being mistaken about it being Cataphractii, or telling Valrak something along the lines of it being a "heavy/weird" variant, and Valrak assuming they mean Cataphractii when it's actually something new.)

Ok, now I'm extremely curious about the possibility of new, non-egg saturnine termis!

I guess a litmus test would be if World Eaters got Red Butchers, and they were in Indomitus pattern TDA. (The MkV of TDA... though often crossing over into MkVI itself...)

Though Khorne Berzerkers are mostly in MkV, they have so much scavenged bits-and-bobs and modifications that it doesn't noticeably look like it. Including the "mini-Cataphractii" shoulder pads for the armour-less arms... which would then make Cataphractii the natural choice for Red Butchers, from a "unified design language" point of view...

(Again: nu-Saturnine Noise Marine Terminators is just a crazy theory, with incredibly little foundation.)

We will have to wait for WE codex to see if they get anything new (and the gods know they need more stuff after such a barebones release).

Would be hilarious! :ROFLMAO:

More seriously though, it would be so cool if we got to mix and match different termi armor marks in the same unit, reflecting the scavening and looting nature of the chaos marines.
Seriously, though, I adore the not really Saturnine termie, I have a squad of 3rd party ones, but they're Dark Angels.

Pop Goes The Monkey do some nice ones, and other stuff I'd like but the shipping is mad, and I think I'd have to pay 23% vat too.

Tsk, those added cossts really suck! Makes me think twice about getting that sweet Popgoesthemonkey stuff...

Honestly, this is one of he thinner updates, and it;s the 4 date he;s speculated in 4 rumour videos. (Winter 24, Summer, end of edition, winter 25). Not putting to much stock in it, though when he speaks of specifics it has some eight,. Eidolon stock down 2/6 and Termie up 1/6 and moving needle of release date more heavily to winter 25.

Winter 25 is last holiday release window (army boxes and factions common) prior to 11th likely July 26 though so is definitely a likely date. For that reason though easy to plot rumours in for it. All the rest could be expected too.

Until may reveals and codex roadmap covering Winter 24 are out then that release window isn't dead. narrowing significantly though.

I'll check again tonight, as they have an awesome sonic obliterator I'd love. Shipping, if I recall, was over 30 bucks, though.
Longer than I planned, but yeah, 124 bucks of stuff in my cart, add 34 shipping and 36 tax.

Big oof, this is not the good Slaaneshi pain.

Yikes! If I ever do it, it's gonna be a one time thing, and nothing else.
Yeah, no lie, I'm still tempted...

Looking again, just the Sonic Obliterator and a 5 man squad of "Hellraiser Terminators" which are the old egg shoulder termies done up EC style and with power spears, after shipping and tax comes to 100ish. Be worth it, I think, but it's not something I'd like to repeat... 🤣

I've seen those Rouge trader-esque sculpts before! have a feeling there were done separately before EC?

Latest 'rumour' Vid had potentially 8-9 months after codex (I felt that was again speculation, not basis in anything), veering to spring 25 now, which is another date. Honestly feels like GW hasn't decided to be honest, but if so that is starting to knock out winter 24 as you'd expect something firmer to be rumbling now if that was the case given the printing and production windows.

Well, a new video from Valrak has been released, this time predicting the units we shall get. Here I leave you a couple of reddit threads about it, which also contain the link to the video:

It seems we may be getting legionaries as basic infantry, 6-men squads of noise marines, 3-men squads of double swordsmen, and a generic lord model, apart from Fulgrim and Lucius. Not bad, in my opinion, of it´s true. Legionaries as basic troops make sense from a lore perspective, saving our noise boys for the elite spots along with those duelists. Kinda lame we don´t get terminators nor cultists, but we shall see. Predictions are cast for a 2025 spring release it seems. Let´s hope for the best!
