So, given the current lack of ink regarding our beloved legion, renegages, and Slaanesh in general, I thougt it would be cool to have a thread to recommend books and other written content, from codex fragments to novels and other books (like the good ol' Liber chaotica); even non-warhammer books that may have some interest or slaaneshi influence. There is a majority of widely known books (Fulgrim novels in HH, Lucius the faultless blade, Fabius omnibus...) that you can find in every recommendation list, like here:

To start this thread, I would like to recommend two older Black library novels: Eye of Terror, by Barrington Bailey, and Daemon world, by Ben Counter. Both give a lot of insight on how life is in the Eye of Terror. In the first one, we get to see chaos xenos who adore Slaanesh, as well as a woman possesed by a daemonette who, thanks to that daemon, can travel the warp inside the Eye and pilot a ship, guiding it through the empirean currents like a navigator. There is many other things, like marines getting tempted by Slaanesh, liquor made of souls, and the roots of my desire (read the book, seriously, it's super enjoyable). Some of it might not be cannon anymore, but it's well written (at least the Spanish translation I got some years ago) and has tons of wonderful information about the warp, daemons and their worlds, hierarchy... An amazing read, with great world building and good plot.

The second book, Daemon world, is a novel about a very valuable planet inside the Eye. It is currently governed by a slaaneshi daemon princess, and there is a lot of interesting characters, from cultists (including a lady that dominates the daemon that posseses her) to a fallen space marine chapter devoted to Slaanesh (though, sadly, they don't do much in the book). Following the current of the previous book, it is a nice read to know more about the life inside of the Eye, in a daemon world under the grasp of Slaanesh. A bit worse than the first one, in my opinion, but still a solid choice.

Been meaning to get The Faultless Blade with a while now. Would prefer physical but it's a crazy price. Might just grab the ebook for convenience.

Just recently saw/heard about Daemon World, oddly enough, looks super interesting. I'll add Eye Of Terror to my list.

As an aside, I always think it's a real shame that they don't set up Black Library to be as searchable as the minis. Imagine being able to go in and click a specific faction and ever filter as leads, secondary or slight mentions.

Thanks for this, hadn't' seen this listed on other sources but then I was looking specifically for EC. There has been such an explosion of lore than no-onbe person can get through it all. Directed and relevant stuff like this was exactly what i was hoping to find, and it;s day 1! Added to 'the list'. :)

---------------

Yeah, being able to filter by character, faction, theme etc. would be brilliant. I've started into the HH series on my commute and wasn't expecting much EC until Fulgrim, but they were around a fair bit in the first few books. Nothing I had read / searched when finding EC related lore had even mentioned that.

Even worse is the sheer amount sitting in WDs, old supplements and the journal or inferno and the like.

If we go beyond just resources some of that older stuff veers more towards archival / investigative than anything else.

Yeah, I was surprised how much Lucius and co. popped up in the first three.

I'll have to dig through the Warhammer archive you get with plus, when I have a good bit of free time, see if I can pick out what Slaanesh and EC stuff they have handy.

I would also love to recommend Kill Six Billion Demons. It is a free web comic about a girl whp gets transported to the center of the universe, a place ruled by capricious gods and demons. It doesn't have anything to do with Warhammer, but it is extremely good. The art is magnificent, the plot is really good, and the concept drinks from a pretty cool mix of indian, japanese and hebrew mythologies. Of course, the fact that the plot revolves about demons and self-centered wannabe gods has a lot of slaaneshi colour to it, so it can be wonderful for inspiration. Also, I would just like you to see two of the demons (well, amalgamations of human and demon, and also an angel in the second case), because they totally look like daemons of Slaanesh. Specially the second, it looks like what the Keeper of Secrets mini should have been. Enjoy!

I'm 100% certain I recignise the art style. Is it used a lot to make Warhammer memes?

That second one especially is an ideal design for a SFW Keeper Of Secrets.

Yeah, they use this comic a lot in Grimdank I think. That's how I first got into it. 100% worth it.

I had read Demon World (which I loved, the Deamon Princess ruler of that planet is amazing!) but wdidn´t know about The eye of terror, will have to add it to my list. And thank you for including Kill 6 billion demons, probably one of the best comics out there! (And, for those interested, one of the most beautiful depictions of transgender issues and transition I have ever read)

So, I´ve been reading some reviews already about Fulgrim: the perfect son and... seems SO disappointing! They say that Fulgrim is now into getting to the Golden throne (wtf?), and that the true protagonists of the novel are the Black templars?!

It's a dull read. The Fulgrim thing is true, the EC plot is probably the weakest of the 3. The plot hinges around Fulgrim wanting a champion before he goes on his conquest, even though Lucius is already his champion.

Two recommendations with EC having a side role in the story. Shroud is primarily an alpha legion story with EC instigating the plot and being set up to appear in a sequel should it occur. While in Bequin they are one faction among many vying for power but I've begun to suspect that the reason were not getting much development for the legion is because Abnett is using them for the last Bequin book which hasn't released and that in some capacity that will have wider ramifications for the legion and other factions later.
